Your hardware is ready. Your app roadmap isn't.

Teams behind connected devices are often strongest on hardware and stretched on software. We add senior engineers who ship the apps, AR features and membership behind your device, inside the product you already run.

We've done this for a US smart-mirror product with mobile and desktop apps and a paid membership.

Shipped in 5.5 months
  1. Paid membership for mirror ownersRecurring revenue after the hardware sale
  2. Real-time AR makeup on the user's faceThe feature people buy the mirror for
  3. One product across mirror, phone and desktopFlutter plus native Java where it counted
  4. 15+ releases, 24/7 production supportA live product that never stopped shipping

Symptoms

Why it costs more than it looks

A lost member costs you every month

A device sale happens once. A cancelled membership is revenue you lose every month from then on, and it usually starts with a sync bug or a paywall that misbehaves.

App reviews sell, or stop selling, the device

Buyers read the companion app's reviews before they spend hundreds on the hardware. A two-star app drags down a five-star device.

A slipping app delays the whole launch

New hardware, a retail rollout or a new membership tier all wait for the software. Every month of delay is a month of revenue that doesn't start.

What do cancellations cost you?

How we fix it, and where we've done it before

Each problem above has a concrete engineering answer. Here is what we do, and what the same work looked like on a live smart-mirror product.

The problem What we do Done before

Device, phone and desktop don't feel like one product

A senior engineer owns consistency across platforms: one cross-platform codebase where it fits, native modules where it doesn't, one release rhythm.

Mirror, mobile and desktop apps shipped in one release cycle.

The AR or camera feature won't leave prototype

Engineers who have shipped with AR SDKs and drop into native code when the framework runs out, tested on the devices your customers actually own.

Real-time AR makeup on the Banuba SDK, with native Java components.

Members leave after the free period

We fix the path to paying and the paywall itself: access that unlocks everywhere within seconds, store billing rules handled, and content that gives members a reason to stay.

Paid membership built for mirror owners, turning the device into a recurring product.

The app roadmap keeps slipping

An engineer joins your team, picks up tickets in the first week and ships inside the live product without a rewrite.

10+ major features and 15+ releases in 5.5 months, with 24/7 production support.

Hiring takes months

Our CTO reviews the architecture and we send one or two engineers who fit, not a pile of CVs. Monthly engagement, no long lock-in.

The smart-mirror project in detail

The situation

A US beauty-tech company sells a premium smart mirror together with mobile and desktop apps. The mirror combines AI and AR tools, makeup tutorials and a paid membership that unlocks the full experience. The product was live and moving fast, and the in-house team couldn't take on everything the roadmap needed.

What they needed

A senior engineer who could work inside the existing codebase rather than build isolated features: real-time AR on the user's face, video tutorials, smart mirror integration and a paid membership, consistent across three platforms.

What our engineer delivered

  • Flutter features for the mobile and desktop apps, and native Java components where Flutter wasn't enough.
  • Real-time AR makeup built on the Banuba SDK.
  • Video-based makeup tutorials and interactive experiences.
  • Integration of app features with the smart mirror.
  • Paid membership functionality for mirror owners.
  • Production bug fixes and 24/7 technical support.

The result

The mirror became a recurring digital product rather than a one-time hardware sale, and the company kept shipping improvements without expanding its internal engineering team.

The client's name and product details stay under NDA. On a call we can walk you through the architecture and the engineering decisions in as much depth as you need.

Start with a free app and membership review

No call and no access to your code needed. Send us your app's name and we'll look at it the way your customers do.

  1. We read your reviews

Every recent App Store and Google Play review, grouped by what customers actually complain about.

  2. We walk the path to paying

From unboxing and pairing to the paywall and the first renewal, as a new customer would.

  3. You get a short note

The three issues we'd fix first, why they matter for revenue, and what each would take to fix.

If you decide to work with us

A senior engineer in your team

From one engineer, monthly

A senior Flutter engineer with native iOS or Android experience, AR SDKs, device integration and in-app subscriptions. They join your standups, your repositories and your release cycle.

A product squad

Tech lead plus one or two engineers

When the roadmap reaches beyond the app, such as personalised recommendations, an AI assistant, billing or partner integrations, we add a senior AI and backend tech lead with experience in subscription commerce and production AI systems, and a backend engineer if needed.

  1. Free review or call

You see how we think about your product before committing to anything.

  2. Architecture review and match

Our CTO reviews the approach and we send one or two profiles that fit.

  3. Start on real tickets

The engineer joins your team and picks up work from your backlog in the first week.

  4. Ship and scale

Monthly engagement with no long lock-in. Add people as the product grows.

Why teams trust us with a live product

Founders on every engagement

Our CTO, Oleksandr Shutalov, reviews the architecture and answers technical blockers within two working hours. Our CEO, Aleksey Pavlishen, owns the match.

A record, not a promise

95.65% first-match success across 23 engagements in 24 months, an average engagement of 18+ months, and 5/5 from 10 reviews on Clutch.

The code stays with you

Engineers work in your repositories and tools. Everything they build, and the knowledge of how it works, belongs to your team.

Questions we usually get

Why can't you name the client?

The engagement is under NDA. On a call we can go through the architecture, the problems and how they were solved in as much technical depth as you like, without naming the company.

Is the free review really free?

Yes. It uses only what's public, your app store listings and reviews and your sign-up flow, and you're under no obligation afterwards.

We're not in beauty tech. Is this still for us?

Very likely. The common thread is a device, an app and a membership. The same engineering applies to connected fitness, personal care and smart home devices.

Can your engineers work with our hardware team?

Yes. In the smart-mirror project our engineer integrated app features with the device alongside the client's existing team, while the product stayed live.

Do you do firmware?

Our focus is the software customers touch: on-device apps, mobile and desktop apps, camera and AR features, memberships and the backend behind them. For firmware, tell us your stack and we'll be straight about whether we're the right fit.

Who owns the code and IP?

You do, from the first commit. We sign an NDA before seeing any code and the contract assigns all IP to you.

Which time zones do your engineers work in?

Ukraine is UTC+2/+3: a full working-day overlap with the UK and EU and a morning overlap with the US East Coast. Engineers adjust their hours to your standups.

Let's get your app as good as your device.

Start with a free review of your app and membership, or spend 30 minutes with our CTO on what's slowing your roadmap down.
